What Are Chakra Frequencies
Chakra frequencies are sound frequencies or tones that align with the body’s energy centers (chakras). Each chakra is associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual aspect of a person and is affected by sound vibrations.
Sound and frequency healing works by listening and tuning into these frequencies in an attempt to balance and align the chakras and improve overall well being of a person.
The 7 Chakra Frequencies are seven different audio tones (measured in Hz) each correlating to a specific chakra. However, different systems of tones or scales can be applied as a system of chakra healing frequencies. The most common frequencies used for chakra healing are:
- Solfeggio Frequencies
- Pythagorean Frequencies
- Singing Bowl / Tuning Fork Frequencies
At the bottom of this page you can find an interactive audio player that will allow you to play and listen to all chakra frequencies based on these three systems.
Solfeggio Chakra Frequencies
The Solfeggio chakra frequencies are a fusion of two powerful and ancient spiritual concepts: the Solfeggio scale, which originated in early Western sacred music, and the chakra system, rooted in Hindu and yogic traditions. Together they make up a sound framework for promoting healing, balance and spiritual development.
The Solfeggio Scale
The Solfeggio scale originated from early Gregorian chants used in Christian liturgical music. These chants were believed to have tones with unique vibrational qualities that would cause spiritual upliftment and connection to the divine. The frequencies were rediscovered in the 1970s by Dr. Joseph Puleo, who identified six core tones:
- 396 Hz - Root Chakra
- 417 Hz - Sacral Chakra
- 528 Hz- Solar plexus Chakra
- 639 Hz - Heart Chakra
- 741 Hz - Throat Chakra
- 852 Hz - Third Eye Chakra
Later, additional frequencies like 174 Hz, 285 Hz, and 963 Hz (Crown Chakra) were included to expand the scale.
Solfeggio Frequencies Chart
| Chakra | Solfeggio Frequency (Hz) | Attribute |
|---|---|---|
| Root | 396 Hz | Liberation from Fear and Guilt |
| Sacral | 417 Hz | Facilitates Change and Undoing Situations |
| Solar Plexus | 528 Hz | Transformation and DNA Repair |
| Heart | 639 Hz | Connecting Relationships |
| Throat | 741 Hz | Awakening Intuition and Purification |
| Third Eye | 852 Hz | Returning to Spiritual Order |
| Crown | 963 Hz | Awakening Perfect State |
How It Works?
The Solfeggio frequencies interact with the human body and mind through resonance. This means that the vibration of a sound wave impacts, affects, and tunes the vibration of our chakras, organs, cells, etc.
When a Solfeggio frequency matches the vibrational needs of a chakra, it can:
Balance and unblock the chakra.
Facilitate emotional release and healing.
Promote physical well-being.
Enhance meditation and spiritual practice.
For example, meditating with 528 Hz while focusing on the solar plexus can boost confidence and inner strength, while listening to 639 Hz may foster forgiveness and love in relationships.
Scientific Insights and Benefits
Vibrational Healing
Specific frequencies have been shown to have an effect on cellular processes in modern studies of sound therapy. The entrainment principle is a way to explain how external frequencies can synchronize naturally with the body’s rhythms to bring about equilibrium and healing. Solfeggio frequencies are often used in practices like Reiki, yoga, and sound baths to:
Reduce stress and anxiety.
Enhance focus and mental clarity.
Support emotional balance and resilience.
DNA and Cellular Impact
Frequencies like 528 Hz are suggested by some researchers to affect DNA repair. While scientific validation is ongoing, practitioner testimonials report profound transformations, including increased energy and emotional breakthroughs.

Pythagorean Chakra Frequencies
The Pythagorean scale is a system of musical tuning established by the ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras (c. 570 - 495 BCE).
It is based on the mathematical principles of how a specific frequency is multiplied or divided to find its harmonic pairs.
Rooted in the concept of harmony as a universal principle, this scale emphasizes the relationship between numbers, sound frequencies, and the cosmos.
Modern interpretations of the Pythagorean scale connect its mathematical purity to the energetic qualities of the chakras, the energy centers in the body.
There are several possible applications of Pythagorean scales and frequencies to the 7 chakras.
In the player below I used 432Hz as the base (heart) frequency, from which the frequencies for the other chakras are derived following the most logical and natural attribution.

Origins of the Pythagorean Scale
Mathematical Foundations
Pythagoras discovered that musical harmony arises from simple numerical ratios. For instance:
- The octave corresponds to a 2:1 ratio.
- The perfect fifth corresponds to a 3:2 ratio.
- The perfect fourth corresponds to a 4:3 ratio.
These ratios are derived from dividing a vibrating string into segments, demonstrating a direct relationship between numbers and sound.
Harmony of the Spheres
Pythagoras proposed that celestial bodies (planets, moons, stars) produce a kind of cosmic music, called the "Harmony of the Spheres," based on their orbital ratios. Though inaudible to human ears, this concept reflects the belief that the universe operates according to harmonious mathematical principles.
Musical Application
The Pythagorean scale uses these simple ratios to create a sequence of musical intervals. Unlike modern equal temperament tuning, it preserves the natural purity of intervals, resulting in a slightly different tuning system.
Chakras and Pythagorean Frequencies (Using 432 Hz As The Base Frequency)
This logic uses 432 Hz as the base frequency for the Heart Chakra and applies harmonic intervals (based on Pythagorean ratios) to derive frequencies for the other chakras.
- The Heart Chakra is commonly associated with balance, love, and harmony, making 432 Hz—a frequency often linked with universal harmony—a natural choice.
- This is the starting point, or the central "anchor," from which other frequencies are derived.
Using Pythagorean Ratios to Derive Intervals
The Pythagorean tuning system generates harmonic intervals based on small whole-number ratios:
- Octave (2:1): Doubling or halving a frequency.
- Perfect Fifth (3:2): Multiplying by 1.5 or dividing by 1.5.
- Perfect Fourth (4:3): Multiplying by 4/3 or dividing by 4/3.
- Major Third (5:4): Multiplying by 5/4 or dividing by 5/4.
- Major Sixth (5:3): Multiplying by 5/3 or dividing by 5/3.
These ratios maintain harmonic purity, ensuring a natural resonance with the base frequency.
Pythagorean Chakra Frequencies Chart
| Chakra | Frequency (Hz) | Interval (from 432 Hz) | Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| Root | 216 Hz | Octave Downward | 1:2 |
| Sacral | 288 Hz | Perfect Fourth | 3:4 |
| Solar Plexus | 324 Hz | Major Sixth | 4:5 |
| Heart | 432 Hz | Base Frequency | 1:1 |
| Throat | 486 Hz | Major Third | 5:4 |
| Third Eye | 648 Hz | Perfect Fifth | 3:2 |
| Crown | 864 Hz | Octave Upward | 2:1 |
Mapping Frequencies to Chakras
The chakras represent ascending levels of energy, from the physical (Root) to the spiritual (Crown). Frequencies are derived by applying harmonic intervals to create a progression that reflects this energetic rise.
How Each Chakra Frequency is Derived
Root Chakra (216 Hz)
- Derived by halving the base frequency (432 Hz ÷ 2 = 216 Hz).
- Represents grounding and stability, fitting the lower octave.
Sacral Chakra (288 Hz)
- Derived by applying a Perfect Fourth upward from the Root (216 Hz × 4/3 = 288 Hz).
- Reflects balance and structure.
Solar Plexus Chakra (324 Hz)
- Derived by applying a Major Sixth upward from the Root (216 Hz × 5/3 = 324 Hz).
- Represents personal power and transformation.
Heart Chakra (432 Hz)
- Base frequency, representing harmony and universal balance.
Throat Chakra (486 Hz)
- Derived by applying a Major Third upward from the base (432 Hz × 5/4 = 486 Hz).
- Supports communication and expression.
Third Eye Chakra (648 Hz)
- Derived by applying a Perfect Fifth upward from the base (432 Hz × 3/2 = 648 Hz).
- Resonates with intuition and higher awareness.
Crown Chakra (864 Hz)
- Derived by doubling the base frequency (432 Hz × 2 = 864 Hz).
- Represents spiritual unity and enlightenment.
Why This Progression Makes Sense
- The logic follows harmonic relationships, where each interval builds upon the previous tone.
- The use of ascending intervals mirrors the rising energy flow of the chakras, from the physical realm (Root) to the spiritual realm (Crown).
- The symmetry and balance of the Pythagorean ratios ensure a coherent and resonant system, ideal for meditative or healing practices.
Singing Bowl Chakra Frequencies
If you are familiar with the concept of sound healing, singing bowls are likely among the most iconic tools known for their ability to balance chakras and restore energetic alignment.
For centuries, these resonant instruments have been used in meditation, spiritual practices, and holistic therapies, offering a soothing way to harmonize the mind and body.
Exploring the frequencies of singing bowls reveals their deep connection to chakra healing, the science behind their effects, and the unique ways they support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
How Singing Bowls Produce Sound
Singing bowls produce sound through vibration, created when the bowl is struck or played with a mallet along its rim. This interaction generates rich, resonant tones and harmonic overtones that seem to linger in the air, creating a soothing auditory experience.
Traditionally, singing bowls are crafted from a blend of metals, often referred to as a "seven-metal alloy," which includes gold, silver, copper, tin, iron, lead, and mercury, each symbolizing celestial or spiritual elements.
Modern variations may use fewer metals or pure materials like crystal. The material and craftsmanship influence the bowl's tonal quality, making each singing bowl unique in sound and resonance.
Tuning and Frequencies
Singing bowls are usually tuned to produce specific frequencies that resonate with the body’s energy centers, or chakras.
Each bowl is crafted to emit a tone that aligns with one of the seven chakras, creating a harmonious relationship between sound and the subtle energy body.
The tuning process involves precise shaping and material selection to ensure that the vibrations produced match the desired frequency.
When played, the bowls generate sounds that can help to restore balance, clear blockages, and promote a sense of well-being by bringing the body’s energy back into alignment.
This unique connection between sound and energy makes singing bowls powerful tools for meditation, relaxation, and healing practices.

Tuning Forks Frequencies
Tuning forks are precision tools used in sound healing and therapy, known for their ability to produce pure, consistent vibrations.
Originally designed for musical purposes, they have found a profound place in holistic practices due to their ability to resonate with the body’s natural frequencies.
Made from metal, typically aluminum or steel, tuning forks are crafted to emit specific tones when struck, creating a focused vibration that penetrates deeply into the body and energy field.
These vibrations are believed to help balance the chakras, clear energetic blockages, and promote physical and emotional harmony, making them invaluable tools in sound healing and wellness practices.
How Tuning Forks Produce Sound
Tuning forks produce sound through vibration when their tines are struck against a surface or activator. This impact causes the metal prongs to oscillate at a specific frequency, creating a pure tone. The sound waves generated are consistent and steady, radiating outward in a focused manner.
Unlike other instruments, tuning forks emit vibrations that can be felt as much as heard, allowing them to interact deeply with the body and energy field.
The frequency produced depends on the fork’s design, with longer, thicker tines generating lower frequencies and shorter, thinner tines creating higher pitches. This precision makes tuning forks ideal for sound healing, where their pure tones can target specific areas for energetic alignment and therapeutic effects.
How Tuning Forks Are Tuned
Tuning forks are precisely calibrated instruments designed to produce pure tones at specific frequencies, making them invaluable tools in sound healing and therapy. The tuning of a fork is determined by its physical dimensions, such as the length, thickness, and material of its tines. Each fork is crafted to vibrate at a particular frequency when struck, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
In sound healing practices, tuning forks are often tuned to frequencies that resonate with the body’s natural energy centers, or chakras.
A common set of frequencies includes 256 Hz, 288 Hz, 320 Hz, 341.3 Hz, 384 Hz, 426.6 Hz, 480 Hz, and 512 Hz.
These tones are related to the harmonic relationships found in the natural world and are believed to correspond to the vibrational patterns of the chakras, from the grounding and stabilizing tones of the lower frequencies to the lighter, more ethereal tones of the higher frequencies. This range allows tuning forks to target specific areas of the body and energy field, promoting balance and alignment in a way that feels natural and harmonious.
These frequencies, while aligned with musical tones, are often tuned in systems like just intonation, which focus on harmonic purity rather than the equal temperament used in modern Western music. This ensures that the intervals between tones are mathematically precise and resonate more naturally with the body's energy and the environment, making them particularly suited for sound healing.
Tuning Fork Frequencies and Musical Notes
Here's how the frequencies relate to the musical tones:
- 256 Hz corresponds to C4 (Middle C in a tuning system based on pure intonation or Pythagorean tuning).
- 288 Hz corresponds to D4, the next note in the diatonic scale.
- 320 Hz corresponds to E4, following the natural progression.
- 341.3 Hz is slightly adjusted to approximate F4, tuned in a way that aligns with specific harmonic or healing principles.
- 384 Hz corresponds to G4, continuing up the scale.
- 426.6 Hz is a higher tuning of A4, slightly offset from the standard 440 Hz for therapeutic purposes.
- 480 Hz corresponds to B4, completing the major scale above A.
- 512 Hz is an octave above the starting C4, representing C5.

Using Tuning Forks
Direct Application: Place the base of an activated tuning fork on the chakra point or near the body.
Aura Cleansing: Sweep an activated tuning fork through the energy field to clear blockages.
Combination Therapy: Use tuning forks alongside aromatherapy or crystals for a holistic experience.
Singing Bowls vs Tuning Forks
In theory, the tuning of singing bowls and tuning forks is the same, because both are made to resonate to certain chakra frequencies.
But how they make sound is completely different.
When struck or played with a mallet, singing bowls generate high pitched vibrations through sustained resonance creating a rich immersive soundscape.
Tuning forks, on the other hand, strike and produce pure, focused vibrations that can be applied directly to the body or energy field. Metal alloys are normally used to make singing bowls, and these alloys are usually made up of more than one metal, or quartz crystal.
However, tuning forks are made from lightweight metals such as aluminum or steel for precision and durability.
This difference in materials also affects the price: Crystal singing bowls are more expensive, they are expensive because they are made out of crystal and they are made with care. Tuning forks, however, are generally cheaper and more portable, and are therefore a good option for targeted sound healing.
